Dream #1
At Clare and Nim’s house, hanging out with Clare. Nim is taking a nap but wakes up around 11:00pm or something, and wants to go to real bed. I help Clare up the stairs so she can get ready; she has injured her left foot and I ask her how. She says just like this, from getting helped up the stairs by Nim and banging her left foot into the stairwell (seems like a self-perpetuating cycle?!). She is speedier than I initially while we are going up, so I speed up a bit and go faster than her, and she says, “Really?” Get upstairs and she goes into the bathroom. When I go back downstairs, Nim starts to walk me home. It is night and there is much incandescent lighting in the streets. I am surprised how far Nim is walking me. On the sidewalk near a tree and planter ahead of us, I see a clump of animals. They are all small but slightly varied; from afar I think one is a baby calf or pig or goat — but upon closer inspection, as we near, I smell a scent makes me positive that they have just been birthed. And they scatter as we pass, three of them going across the street into the driveway of a house, two moving up the street back where we had just come from, and one standing in the street for a long while — the one reminding me of a black pig — and I worry only for a second that it may be hit by a car. Across the street, adorable dogs: one fluffy Chow-ish one in the center, one fluffy doberman to its right (from my point of view). I do not remember anything about the one on the left. Soon Nim is driving me home. We’re driving south on 21st and make a left on Taylor, near the park.

To dream that you are walking up a flight of stairs indicate that you are achieving a higher level of understanding. You are making progress into your spiritual, emotional or material journey. The dream is also analogous to material and thoughts that are coming to the surface. To dream that you slip or trip on the stairs signify your lack of self confidence or conviction in the pursuit of some endeavor. If you slip going up the stairs, then it means that you are moving too fast toward attaining your goals. If you slip going down the stairs, then it suggests that you are moving too quickly in delving into your subconscious. You may not be quite ready to confront your subconscious or repressed thoughts.

Spiritual Meaning:
Spiritually, an injury or scar may suggest that something negative and harmful has occurred, which is an external force rather than internal. We may not have dealt with it as well as we might. An injury will suggest a recent hurt, whereas a scar in a dream suggests that there are old hurts, which have not been fully dealt with.

To dream that you cut your foot on broken glass indicates that you are experiencing some obstacles or reservation in moving forward toward your goals. This dream may occur due to your lack of freedom or independence. Alternatively, you may have taken a step in the wrong direction and your dream is trying to give you a head’s up on it. You need to go in the direction that you want to go and not follow others. Take your own initiative.

To dream that you are walking on a sidewalk represents your steady progress and direction in life. You may be experiencing new walks of life. If the sidewalk is cracked, then it signifies minor and temporary setbacks that are keeping you from getting to your destination. Perhaps you need to alter your course and make some changes in your life.

The tree is symbolic in dreams of the basic structure of our inner lives. When one appears in our dreams it is best to work with the image fairly extensively. (Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the tree.)

To see a puppy in your dream symbolizes your playfulness and carefree nature. It also refers to a blossoming friendship. If you are taking care of a puppy, then it means that you are reliable and trustworthy. Others can depend on you, especially during difficult times. To see a litter of newborn puppies in your dream is indicative of the amount of time that an idea has been developing or will take to develop. Look to the number of puppies to give you that approximate amount of time.

To dream of a separation suggests that you are experiencing some separation anxiety. You are afraid of feeling unneeded or abandoned. Alternatively, the dream means that you need to looking at an issue more objectively. You need to pull yourself away from a situation and look at it from afar.

To see or drive up to a driveway in your dream symbolizes an end to your journey. It also represents security and rest. Alternatively, it denotes your path toward achieving inner peace and finding your spirituality.

If the road is smooth and bordered by trees or flowers, then it denotes a steady progress and steady climb up the social ladder. If the road is straight and narrow, then it means that your path to success is going as planned.

Interpretation of Meanings:
Don’t know, but we did watch a brief film with baby dogs in it right before sleeping. But I have certainly been having some general life confusions about where I am going and the routes I am taking to get there.

Dream #2
Approach some bar in a hotel or something. There are some glasses of scotch but I fill up a glass with milk, quite full. Then I decide to add some scotch to it — I guess thinking it may be like a White Russian if I do that? — but then I realize that the glasses of scotch are all actually half-drunken and belong to strangers. They aren’t even half-full, but far below that. I change my mind.

To dream that you are at a public bar signifies your desire to escape from the stresses of your daily life and retreat into a light-hearted environment where pleasure abounds. Alternatively, you are seeking acceptance in some aspect of your daily life. The dream may also be a pun on being “barred” from some place or something. You are feeling excluded or held back by circumstances beyond your control.

To see milk in your dream symbolizes maternal instincts and motherly love. It also denotes human kindness, wholesomeness, and compassion. Alternatively, the dream may be a metaphor that someone is “milking” you, either emotionally or financially. To dream that you are drinking milk signifies domestic bliss and inner nourishment. It may also imply that you need to strengthen your ties and relationships with others.

To dream that you are enjoying alcohol in moderation denotes contentment and satisfaction in the decisions that you have made. Success is within your grasp. The dream may also be a metaphor for “spirits” and your need for spiritual enrichment.

To see whiskey in bottles symbolizes your alertness, carefulness and protective nature. To dream that you are drinking whisky suggests that your selfishness will cost you your friends. Alternatively, it represents your lack of self-confidence. You are trying to escape the responsibilities of your everyday life.

Interpretation of Meanings:
Maybe to choose milk — nourishment, strengthening of relationships — over whiskey — selfishness… also something I’ve been struggling with lately. Weird.

In a giant room. There are magical performances going on and the last girl is “up.” I am with Troy. The room is cluttered full of items. Her performance INSANELY, with some announcement (or maybe even psychic message or maybe literal message over loudspeaker) that says that this lady’s dance is to combat male-ness — or something along those lines, anyway. It begins with her at the center, pop-and-locking, while a bunch of dudes try and fight her. She is wearing a crop top and baggy pants, like Aaliyah with bad early ‘90s fashion. There is a slow-motion dance move she is doing, and it looks like there is an invisible sphere around her that the enemies cannot penetrate, though I think that’s just an illusion initially. Soon, though, the magic seems to become real and all these crazy objects and happenings begin to happen, and Troy and I are sitting facing it “head-on,” as though she were on a stage in front of us and we are exactly centered in the back of the room watching her… and we begin to wonder aloud how these things are happening and I begin wondering internally if it is only because of our perspective that this magic looks like magic or if it is actually magic. We also wonder if she is making the performance happen. it looks like a three-dimensional animation or rendering or something, not real life; all of the components look rather polished. At this point, many items are magnetized on the ground, and they all begin moving around in a path that she determines — a really complicated path, where every item has their own individual arc and story, like God commanding the lives of each person. At one point, I am on the far side of the room (well actually, I’ve moved diagonally, towards the “front right corner”) and I am near these balloons that she is guiding around on her “magnetic track.” The fascinating thing is that though these objects have a controlled route that they are set on — which magical lady determines — they are also free to be controlled by the other people in the room (again, like God). I find myself drawn to the white balloons, though there are many objects in the room. I hit over and over again one balloon in particular, but find that it always goes back to where it wanted to be and I find this so amusing I giggle. I also hit around a really small white pebble as I’m moving from the front right of the stage to the center middle, where the performer is. But soon, she crumples, and Taraka from Prince Rama emerges from I don’t know where, with really tender energy, and goes to see if she is alright. She is not responsive, and Taraka (or someone) is told to call the performer’s mother. And slowly, everything in the room becomes less magnetized, and it dawns on me that she WAS really controlling everything…

To dream that you are in a theater signifies your social life. Consider how the performance parallels to situations in your waking life. Observe how the characters relate to you and how they may represent an aspect of yourself. You may be taking on a new role. Alternatively, the dream is a metaphor that you are being too theatrical or too melodramatic. Are you being a dream queen?

To perform or dream of magic suggests that you need to look at things from a different view or approach your problems from a new angle in order to successfully move forward. Alternatively, magic symbolizes creativity and wonder. Perhaps someone or something has caused you to be in awe. The dream may also be a metaphor that you or someone is “up to some trick”.
To dream of black magic implies that you have obtained your wishes and wants through underhanded tricks. It also symbolizes deception, evil and treachery.

To see or dream that you are a magician signifies that an issue or a task at hand may be trickier than you had anticipated. You are feeling disillusioned. Alternatively, the dream means that you are trying to fool yourself or someone into believing something that you know is not true.

To dream of a magnet, denotes that evil influences will draw you from the path of honor. A woman is probably luring you to ruin. To a woman, this dream foretells that protection and wealth will be showered upon her.
To see a magnet in your dream symbolizes negative forces that are drawing you towards a path of dishonor and ruin. Alternatively, the dream signifies personal empowerment. Some force is bonding or uniting your relationships together. The dream may also be a metaphor for your magnetic personality.

Spiritually, dancing has always been taken to represent the rhythm of life. The patterns created are reputed to mirror the patterns of creativity. If space and time are part of one continuum, movement and the flow of dance link the two together. Psychologically, dance can be a reinforcement of freedom of movement, strength and emotion. Ballet in particular portrays an ethereal appreciation of mood; flamenco and other such energetic dancing reflect passion. Dance has always represented freedom and been symbolic of other actions which were necessary for survival. To be dancing in a dream portrays the creation of happiness, feeling at one with the surroundings and possibly getting closer or more intimate with a partner.

To see balloons in your dream indicate declining hopes and disappointments in your search for love. A situation in your life will take a turn downward. Balloons also represent arrogance and an inflated opinion of yourself. If you see black balloons in your dream, then it symbolizes depression, especially if the balloons are descending. To see an ascending balloon in your dream signifies frustrating conditions in your life in which you are seeking to rise above. You are expressing a desire to escape. On a positive note, balloons symbolize celebration and festivities. You need to acknowledge your inner child.
To see a balloon pop in your dream symbolizes an unrealized goal or dream. It may also represent the stresses in your life. The pressure may be starting to be too great for you to bear. To dream that you or someone is blowing up a balloon represents your aspirations, goals and ambitions. You are experiencing renewed hope.

White represents purity, perfection, peace, innocence, dignity, cleanliness, awareness, and new beginnings. You may be experiencing a reawakening or have a fresh outlook on life.Alternatively, white refers to a clean, blank slate. Or it may refer to a cover-up. In Eastern cultures, white is associated with death and mourning.

To see a pebble in your dream represents minor difficulties and annoyances in your life. To dream that you are throwing pebbles suggest that you are feeling hurt by the little things that may seem insignificant. It is symbolic of criticism and gossip.
For a young woman to dream of a pebble-strewn walk, she will be vexed with many rivals and find that there are others with charms that attract besides her own. She who dreams of pebbles is selfish and should cultivate leniency towards others’ faults.

Interpretation Of Symbols:
None of these symbols or interpretations really means anything to me… I rarely dream of magic, though, so that’s cool.

I am walking with four other people through some natural setting with concrete urban-type qualities. it’s a park with really tall hills. Anyway, two of the guys are really into skateboarding or snowboarding, and they begin doing tricks like madness. All of us can kind of do tricks and are kind of interested in those sports, but the three of us are less interested than the other two. The other two decide they don’t even want to stay on the pre-determined route, but are interested in carving out their own, and they scamper off from the urban ruins and into the brown hills. They disappear. The other three of us head towards a grass field, where there is somewhat tall grass and mucky ground. It’s a little gross to walk through but I do it, as I’m no longer interested in skateboarding or snowboarding. It’s also funny we explore that section because there’s really not much going on there, and we can see the end of it (it’s like a square, though I’m not sure what it’s bound in by). Finally, I get the feeling that I’m going to come across a body or something — and I do, and I announce that I’ve found a dead body. only it’s not dead. Upon discovering it comes flooding off a neon-lighted, glowing world of little people doing I don’t even know what. They come tumbling out like exo, Slimer, energy. And the grass becomes flooded over by tons and tons of blue dragonflies, evenly spaced along its surface, dotting it. one of the guys I am with wakes up the fallen girl, who seems perhaps scared of the little men she is exuding? And he tells her that similar things happen to him — or in his family or something — and that in Irish culture such things are regularities, little men dancing around in neon energies… not sure what else happens.

To see a dragonfly in your dream symbolizes change and regeneration. It may also indicate that something in your life may not appear as it seems. Alternatively, the dream represents instability, flightiness or activity. You are always on the go. To dream that you are eating a dragonfly suggests that you are consumed by some sort of passion even at the risk of offending or hurting other’s feelings.

i don’t remember much except a spider about the size of a half dollar is on my right hand. it bites me once there, and i try to shake it off, but to no avail. it climbs onto my left hand and goes up my sleeve and bites me twice more.

to see a spider in your dream indicates that you are feeling like an outsider in some situation. or that you may want to keep your distance and stay away from an alluring and tempting situation. the spider is also symbolic of feminine power. to dream that you are bitten by a spider, represents a conflict with your mother or some dominant female figure in your life. the dream may be a metaphor for a devouring mother or the feminine power to possess and entrap. perhaps you are feeling trapped by some relationship.

assessment of interpretation:
i’m currently in a foreign country, so maybe there’s some truth to it (although i don’t feel particularly out of place). i don’t have the best relationship with my mother, either, but it’s not something that was stressing me out yesterday, although it is stressing me out in general, i guess.

my former client isn’t actually a fitness buff; rather, he’s a cashier at a gay hair salon, turned con man. later in same dream, there’s this girl wearing weird-looking lacey underwear and a tank top, and she is just standing in the street talking trash about how she can have any man she wants. i’m walking by with karen and as we walk by, i guess she hits karen in the face. i didn’t see it. it wasn’t super hard — just like, a mild slap, except she had ink on her hand, so now karen has this black ink mark on the side of her face, but it looks more like a tattoo because it has a spider web in it (??). we walk maybe another twenty feet before i see it, and i’m like, “wtf? she did that to you?” and i’m like, “well, let’s deal with the bitch,” so i go back on her, and i’m like, “hey, i see you bested my girlfriend. you’re looking finnnnneeee,” and karen’s like, “???”. as the girl steps closer, i hit her in the face and she falls to the ground. i drag her to the side and i’m like to karen, “c’mere,” and so we beat the girl up. i’m not sure the girl cares, and then we’re going to rape the girl (???) but then she turns into a cat. so there, i was pinning a cat down, and my brain had enough wtf, and i woke up.

this woman and i are walking a baby penguin, or a baby something. it’s a bird. its back is black. its wings are flipperish. it can swim. it has some yellow spikey feathers near its head, though, so it isn’t exactly a penguin. looks like a penguin with a little yellow crown, i guess, or a mohawk. i don’t know. this is a weird walk, cause we are somewhere tropical, walking along a beach. there is a little island not far from shore at all, so we swim, and the bird follows like it’s a dog or something, always 5-20 feet away, checking stuff out and coming closer if we get too far apart. in any case, asides from the awesomeness of walking a baby penguin… the only thing that happens beyond that is that at one point during our swim, we come near a tiny little island that is a nesting ground for some other type of bird… and little penguin just climbs out of the water with its flipperwings and tries to walk across it. it gets pounced and partially ravaged by some birds there. i think they’re going to kill it because they’re so much bigger, but i make it out of the water before the penguin’s too badly injured, and i throw ghandfuls of gravel/sand at the birds and they give us some room. we walk off the island and continue.

then i have a dream about walking through some really psychedelic woods. the lighting is all weird. huge amounts of aqua and light blues. occasionally mild oranges and reds. the place is full of snakes. i am mostly running the whole time because i think the snakes are the least of my worries, though i can’t remember why. there are crazy mushrooms in there. it’s a stoner dream, emo. i have to be cautious as i near the various snakes, and then after that, i can see where everything is, so i would sprint a bit and then go back to being stealthy. i think it may have physically connected to the other dream — like maybe i swam out of the water onto an island which contains these woods, but the woman and penguin are gone and the feeling is more nightmarish. i don’t know.

after that, i find a building. it’s really big. it’s like an old 1960’s hospital or something. then the dream turns rather zombie-apocalypse. i forget what happens exactly, but i am under the impression that i have been running out of the woods from zombies. in any case, i’m picking my way through the well-lit hospital, and there is mos def scary shit around, but it sounds pretty far away. i hear someone scream in the distance on occasion, but the hallway that i’m in is pretty much dead… i’m just trying to find people. it’s a full-on nightmare at this point.. my dreams have a certain flavor to them when they are nightmares. something can be a nightmare without anything particualrly bad happening (though something bad usually happens). to describe the feeling… i’d say its like sitting at the movies and watching a horror film… but you haven’t seen any blood and guts yet. it has that feel.. and your mind looks for something sinister even during the mundane plot development. thats what my nightmares feel like… something bad is going to happen at some point. so then, i’m crossing a bridge between wings of the hospital (not too disimilar to the layout of a hospital i worked at when i was 14-18) and the sounds of people yelling get much, much closer, and i think they’re further down the same hall i’m in. i start running towards the sounds, and i notice a row of operating tables occupying the left wall of this wide hallway. i hear the people very close now… but i’m temporarily more intested in what’s on these tables. there are a few corpses… some fresh, some old (though there is no smell/flies/anything, really). some have white sheets, but there is one table that has a naked female lying on her side. her body is painted silver. the paint is thick; it can almost be a skin-tight suit, but i think it’s more like latex paint or something. her face is completely painted over, obscuring any facial features. there are crimson lines in the paint. i’m not sure why exactly. they mostly look decorative. one may have been a belt. another may have been a shoulder strap… and then there is a wide oval circling where both her eyes would’ve been, as if she were some sort of silver cyclops. her mouth is smoothed over by this latex-like metalic silver mask/suit thing. her hair is dirty grey-beige and looks like a wet hairbrush. it’s unclear if she is really a human body or more like some weakly-featured scuplture. it’s also unclear how her hair comes out of this suit, given that her body is pretty much sealed by it… which makes me think, maybe it is skin. in any case, my fascination with the silver corpse comes to an end as numerous people come running down the hall… perhaps 6-10 people, and they slam a door at the end of the hall. they are panting and yelling at each other. then they see me, they say some things to me, and i’m not sure what’s going on. they were running from something, for sure. they are talking a million miles a minute at me. i’m not sure whats going on. and then the sivler corpse moves a little bit. everyone starts screaming, and someone yells something about a “silver shrieker”… or it was something like that. they all scatter. i just stand there staring at her. she grabs a syringe from near her operating table and starts to scratch at where her eyes would be. i see the silver tear. there is something gooey and beige/grey underneath. it’s mucousy as the silver peels back from whatever is underneath. something yells at me, “DON’T LET HER SEE YOU WHAT YOU ARE DOINGGGG!” it occurs to me that i am super fucked, and the fear of the group possess me. her face is almost free of whatever that silver stuff is, and she is going to see me, so i dive into a room which is immediately behind me and across from her. it makes a lot of noise, and three people are in there cowering. i hide just around the corner from the doorway (there is no door), and just as fast as i make it there, i hear the silver woman pounce off her table onto the floor and scamper towards me. her face comes around the edge of the door and pauses one foot away from me. i’m holding super still, trying not to breathe, but her face is terrifying. the flesh near her eyes just sinks like the interior of a flower… sinks towards a tiny stem that comes out like the male sex organ of a flower. the tiny stems that must be eyes or some form of sensory organ are a dark blood-ish purple.. and they move very slowly as if tasting the air. it’s like a decay flesh flower, or perhaps like the tongue of a snake, at the same time. her mouth is huge and lipless… large teeth, all canines interlock… and she opens her mouth and mucous and slimy shit is pulled apart as the teeth separate. i’m so scared that i start to hyperventilate. i’m trying to control the movement of my chest. it’s very mild; i hope she cant see me breathing. i’m guessing she can’t see if i don’t move because she hasn’t killed me yet, but the panic in me is getting so strong she has to go away or surely she will see me moving. i’m trying so hard to control my breathing that i am almost completely physically awake at this point. but the dream continues, very shallowly as she backs out of the room and i hear her fleshy feet pat their way down the hall. i don’t plan on moving for the next hour and then i fully wake up.

some evil bad guys were after us, us being our merry band of rebels. the evil bad guys took the form of a corrupt military police force with bayonets. i think they might have been from a banana republic. i dunno, cuz my dream didn’t specify. anyhow, we were running through the jungle trying to escape their thirst for innocent blood. the highlight of the plot had to be when we all dove under the wide river. just as they started to puncture the water with their evil police spears, all hundred of us locked hands, then magically darted away like a school of fish, magical fish.
